THEATRICAL WHAT’S ON IN JANUARY

Tying a knot in it has always been a good aide memoir and this little feature will appear weekly to remind you of the exciting theatre and arts events in our area over the next couple of weeks.

DW-051THE FAIRY dust has probably settled by now, but the magic of theatre means it happens all over again each night.

According to Nicholas Pegg’s script, Dick Whittington came from Hornchurch, so what better place to put on his story than the Queen’s Theatre in Billet Lane.

ROBIN HOOD and his Merry Men but what is this about fluffy bunnies?

The association can only come from Blackmore Players in their annual pantomime; Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood.

Written by Brian Herring,  and directed by Craig Stevens and John Hughes, the concept is more than literation, but a determined piece of imagination that would equal Snow White with three left feet.

Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood runs for five performances starting Wednesday January 22 to Saturday January 25, with a matinee performance, at the Blackmore Village Hall, Nine Ashes Road, Essex CM4 0QW.

Tickets range from £6 to £10 depending on which night, and are available from the Brentwood Theatre box office on 01277 200305

Wesley PlayersSECRET OF SHIPWRECK ISLAND, is the pantomime of Wesley Players, celebrating 60 years.

The Upminster based group is entering the panto season with a play by Ken Holland, adapted by Natasha Blaauw with four performances from Thursday January 23 to Saturday 25th, at the Wesley Hall, Upminster Methodist Church, Hall Lane, Upminster RM14 1AE.
